"Just Friends" Music Video Out Today!

Crissi Cochrane

I’m pleased to unveil a new music video for my stripped down version of "Just Friends”! Directed by Ken Amlin, it was filmed at Wagner Orchards & Estate Winery during the golden hour while the apple trees were in bloom, and it was the fastest music video shoot of my career, clocking in at just one hour and 45 minutes.

For me, this video honours my roots growing up in the Annapolis Valley of Nova Scotia. For the past 89 years, the region has held an annual Apple Blossom Festival, which, this year, begins today. Our family never missed the Apple Blossom Parade, or the fireworks. It was an exciting cusp-of-summer season when the weather finally warmed, and there'd be parties, concerts, and a flurry of local events. The blossoms remind me of my hometown, how grateful I am to have grown up in such a beautiful place. I feel like they’re tied to my spirit somehow.

The video came into existence as a serendipitous coincidence: Windsor director Ken Amlin approached Soul City Music Co-op with a last-minute unique opportunity to film at Wagner Orchards. He had rented some lenses from Toronto for another music video shoot, and rather than doing a lens test that no one would ever see, he offered to film a music video for free for one of our artists. I reached out to half the roster before finally deciding to jump on the opportunity myself. It just felt too perfect, with my affinity for apple blossoms. The soft femininity of the flowers, combined with my love for them, made this a perfect pairing for us.

It's also the first time my vintage Fender Jaguar has ever appeared in a music video! It sets off a lovely contrast with the white of my outfit, which includes a long lovely bridal robe that I originally wore in my "Sleep in the Wild" music video nine years ago!

If you like the video, please like, comment, share, or subscribe! It all helps a ton!
