PRETTY ALRIGHT back online!

Crissi Cochrane

Hey friends!

Pleased to announce that my 2011 folk EP, Pretty Alright, is officially back online! You can now find it on Spotify, Apple, Deezer, Amazon, Tidal, and Bandcamp.

It’s been really awesome seeing so much positive feedback about this decision on social media. A lot of people remember this EP quite fondly, which is really touching! I think that in the past 11 years, listeners’ habits of consuming music have really changed a lot, and it’s harder to make those kinds of connections now, so I’m always really surprised to hear it when people are actually familiar with things that I’ve released.

When this project came out, I feel like we were all still buying CDs, spending a lot more time discovering new music and supporting those artists, and connecting in-person. It could just be because I was in my 20s then and had different priorities and fewer responsibilities, but I can’t discount the fact that streaming and the pandemic have changed things. It’s honestly left me feeling a bit conflicted about the music industry and my place in it, especially as I’m on maternity leave (and frankly, really enjoying it).

I’m booking gigs now for 2023, but I have no idea what the future will hold. I have a feeling I won’t be playing much outside downtown Windsor for a while, since I’m exclusively breastfeeding my now two-month-old baby and I also don’t drive, so it’s quite complicated for me to play anywhere farther than a cab ride away (or to be gone for more than one or two feeds, since my breast pump is awful and I hate pumping). Also, our hospitals are over capacity in Ontario and it’s mainly with children right now!? And there’s a shortage of Tylenol and over-the-counter pain medicine for children??! What is happening?? It’s been such a bad year for RSV, COVID, and the flu, and it’s super scary knowing that there’s no medicine available in stores if my kids get sick, and no space available in the hospitals either. So their wellness has to be my priority. Gigs can wait, but the little ones cannot! (Lord knows they are extremely impatient in all things)

And on that note, it’s time to go do some crafts with my eldest and feed my youngest! Thank you for reading,

Crissi
