Tomorrow afternoon, I'll be in London recording Quick Foxes, my project with Mike Hargreaves. In the evening, we're stopping by the London Music Club's open mic night to play some tunes. Really hoping to make some new friends in London (and head back for a proper show in the spring!).

This week, Mike Hargreaves and I are making a trip to London to record some tunes we co-wrote. Interestingly, this is the first time I've ever really co-written something. We're titling our little outfit "Quick Foxes". Pretty exciting to have another little project!

While in London on Friday, January 27th, Mike and I will be stopping in at the London Music Club to play at the weekly open mic. We couldn't miss a chance to play while we were in town.



On Saturday, we'll be back in Windsor to play at the Dominion House (3140 Sandwich St.) with our friend, Kevin Echlin. There's no cover - the show starts around 10 and will be upstairs.

I've also made a little change to the website layout - I learned me some more HTML. Old entries (those below this one) will be shortened. You can expand them by clicking "show more". If you encounter a bug, please let me know. Be sure to tell me what browser you're using (and maybe take a screen shot if you know how).

Tonight, I also devised a new mobile version of this website. Now, when you visit "www.crissicochrane.com" on your mobile phone browser, you'll be taken to the fancy mobile site, where you can find current info - upcoming shows, new posts, and links to find music on iTunes or order by PayPal. (As usual, if you encounter an error, let me know).

The new music video for "I Won't Try To Break Your Heart" will be online HERE on Thursday, January 12! The video will officially be public as of 12:00AM (I love midnight events).

If you're in Windsor, I'll be performing a few times throughout the month - this Friday at FM Lounge, followed by a set at the Art Gallery on the 20th, and a show at the Dominion House on the 28th. After that I'll leave you alone for a while (and start bothering some other parts of ON, hopefully!).

Happy new year! Last year was pretty awesome - over a glass of champagne, Mike and I made a list of the highlights. My top 3:


1. Recording and releasing Pretty Alright and getting it into rotation on CBC Radio 3.
2. Touring out east and singing with Rich Aucoin and Jenn Grant at Rich's Halifax Pop Explosion show (that whole two weeks was indescribably wonderful).
3. Upgrading to my lovely new Martin acoustic / opening for Sarah Harmer (those two are tied).

In other news, the "I Won't Try To Break Your Heart" music video is in post-production and should be out sometime later this month. I had such a great time shooting it, and I'm really excited/anxious to see how all that dancing and smiling looked on camera. I'm playing some shows around Windsor this month, and hoping to line up some shows in Southern Ontario in the next few months.

So here's to a busy and productive 2012 (our last year on earth maybe?)!

"I Won't Try To Break Your Heart" has been doing well at CBC Radio 3! This week it garnered most thumbs up, and this morning there was a nice blurb about the song on the R3 website -

"With a voice like sunshine, Crissi's lyrics soar over a playful backdrop of brass, piano and (naturally) guitars. Sweet and welcoming, this track is just another example of how 21-year-old Crissi Cochrane is earning her place among Canada's great pop singer/songwriters. Last night was the music video shoot for "I Won't Try To Break Your Heart" at Phog Lounge. It went great - so happy we had enough people come out and take part (you know who you are, and you're wonderful). The video will be up sometime in the new year. "I Won't Try To Break Your Heart" has been added to rotation on CBC Radio 3! Grant Lawrence debuted the song on his program this afternoon. So honoured and happy to have music on Radio 3!

Also, I've finally upgraded to an iPhone after three years with a Blackberry, so look forward to more photos and videos from me in the future!

The music video shoot has been postponed to DECEMBER 20TH.

Yesterday at Phog around 6:00, the leg of the tripod gave out while we were setting up for the first shot. The camera came crashing down and the lens broke. We thanked everyone for coming, apologized, packed up, had some drinks, and went home. When Sasha got home and looked at the camera, he discovered that it wasn't lens itself was broken - only the UV lens. So relieved that we can avoid the headache of replacing a lens, although bummed to have not been shooting last night. We'll have to fix that troublesome tripod stand before the shoot.

So, now it'll be happening on December 20th (next Tuesday). I'm just looking at this extra week as more time to get ready for the shoot (and spread the word about it).

The music video shoot for "I Won't Try To Break Your Heart" is tomorrow night at Phog (157 University Ave W. for those of you in the Windsor area), and I need some extras to hang out in the bar and help paint my white dress!


I made this dress all by myself because it turns out December is the worst time of year to try to buy a white sundress.

I need extras, so if you're free, please come by and get your lovely face in the video! Bring some friends, have a drink, grab a table, and hang out (and maybe let us stick a camera in your face to capture your awesomeness). The shoot begins at 5:00PM (please don't be late) and will run until about 10:00PM or so.

It is with a heavy heart that I'm announcing the cancellation of my shows in Toronto next weekend. I was hoping to make the trip up with Mike in the Michou van, but it died in NB at the end of Michou's tour and can't be fixed. I'm heartbroken, as are they; this is the second van they've had to part with in the last month (the last one being written off in an accident that wasn't their fault), and this is the second time I've had to cancel out-of-town shows because of a dead van. For the record, the shows should still be happening, just with other people filling in.

I really feel awful for missing these shows, but missing a few shows is much easier to handle than being a band without a van. Michou are an amazingly hardworking group of guys, and if I had the money I'd replace their van in a heartbeat.

Want to be in a music video?

I'll be shooting a video for "I Won't Try To Break Your Heart" on Tuesday, December 13 at Phog, from 5pm to about 10pm or so, and I need some local folks to fill the bar! There won't be any acting - just hanging out - and you'll be helping paint the white dress I'll be wearing. It'll be a pretty casual video, mostly focusing on nice, creative visuals and how awesome Phog/the Windsor music community is.
