After over half a year of meetings and planning, today I finally had the pleasure of shooting a music video for my song "Coming Home" with the fine folks at Charlie Mac Productions in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. The shoot took place in the Alderney Landing Theatre (check out my sweet swanky dressing room above - please note this is after several hours of wardrobe/makeup changes and snacks!). Many thank yous go out to the great staff at Charlie Mac and the fantastic crew who made it all happen today.
As some of you may know, I was planning a very big endeavour to take place at the end of this month regarding a certain US state and a certain overdue album. Unfortunately some unavoidable obstacles have come up (such as the theft of my passport) causing some delay to the project. However, it will still take place, only later on this year. If you aren't aware of the details, I'm sorry to be so ambiguous! I'm sure you'll all know soon enough.
I'll be visiting Fredericton in the very near future, so make sure to mark September 5th or September 6th - or even both! - off on your calendar to see me perform. Please check out the shows section to see when I'll be near you next :)

My friends Kate Fagan and Graham Scharf got together with me at the start of the month and we shot a music video for my song Mexico! To check out photos from the shoot, click here to see the album on Flickr. I'll be adding them soon to the Photos section on the site here.
Also, I've added a new show to my upcoming dates. I'll be playing on September 5th at Crumb's Cafe (551 King Street) in Fredericton, NB with Babette Hayward and Ben Ross. Show starts around 7:00 and costs five dolla!
You might have noticed that I've changed a lot of my websites over to "Crissi Cochrane" instead of "Save September" this past week! I know I've been musing about the change for a while, and sort of just jumped into it. I thought maybe an explanation would make sense, so here goes...
When I first started performing as Save Sepember, it was tenth grade in the Annapolis Valley and I believed adamantly in guitar picks. I'm not even sure I really owned a capo yet. I played a lot of covers of Saves The Day, the Ataris, and Coheed and Cambria, dreamed of stretching my ears and being allowed to dreadlock my hair. Four years later, I don't use guitar picks, I can't play anything without a capo, and all my covers are of Ben Gibbard tunes. I dream of cute flats and pretty dresses, and have finally learned to enunciate my lyrics properly.
In effect, it came to my attention that my style has changed so much since I started out that it seems like there really should be a distinction between then and now. Also, I guess I realized I kind of felt a bit silly hiding behind a stage name maybe? It would have made more sense if I had put together a band under the name, but that never manifested. Plus, I began to find it weird when people would recognize the name "Save September" but not know who I actually was - to be honest, expecting anybody to remember me by two names sounds a bit schizophrenic and isn't wholly practical. I rationalized the stage name by listing off well-known musicians with stage names, only to be a bit ashamed when I realized theirs all were pretty meaningful (Dallas Green = City and Color? It took me so long to get that one, but it's brilliant) and mine was very, very haphazard.
Anyway, I'll be playing under my own name henceforth. I'll still be giving away free Save September buttons and selling copies of the Sampler until supplies run out/I have something better (which looks like it's going to be soon, and I can't wait to tell you all about it).
